CMMC

Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification

Definition

CMMC is a DoD framework requiring defense contractors to demonstrate cybersecurity maturity before handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) or Federal Contract Information (FCI). It defines three levels based on NIST 800-171 and NIST 800-172 controls.

Third-party assessments are required for Level 2 and above, and certification is a contract award prerequisite.
