Edge Computing

Edge Computing

Definition

Edge computing processes data and runs workloads at locations physically close to end users — CDN edge nodes, ISP facilities, or on-premises edge servers — rather than centralizing computation in cloud data centers. This reduces latency for time-sensitive workloads, enables offline operation, and reduces data transfer costs.

Cloudflare Workers, AWS Lambda@Edge, and Fastly Compute@Edge are cloud edge platforms.
